THE HISTORY » Going back to 1841
By 1830 Grahamstown was known as the second largest city in South Africa after Cape Town and it was here, in 1841, that James John Henry Stone established a law firm. After Lorimer Benjamin Dold joined him in 1902 the oldest law firm in Grahamstown became known as Dold and Stone and for 170 years continued to serve their clients from the same premises (and always with a Stone family member practicing) until the death of Christopher Kyle Montagu Stone in 2012.
Today Dold and Stone, under the directorship of Susan Graham McNaughton and Yolandi Wolmarans, continue to honour their profession and their clients by providing timeous expert legal services from their new offices situated at 10 African Street. From their strong Eastern Cape heritage has grown a worthy, progressive firm working in the areas of conveyancing, litigation and estate planning, who look forward to engaging with you via their Facebook page, blog or direct enquiries.
